I’ve been following your blogs and YouTube videos since I started out on my year long adventure doing all my pre-med requisites last year after overcoming a major life obstacle (one semester of suspension). 2 weeks ago I took my MCAT and the week before I was interviewed by a group called Accepted.com. I hope you can check out my blog, and hopefully if you like it you can share with the rest of your following & fans under your pre-medical blogs. On Twitter I started the anonymous handle- PreMedPrince last year and it’s grown and helped contribute to my success.

Hello, my name is mimi and I will be applying for med school next year and I’m really hoping I’ll get accepted. I will be 18 in the next 2 weeks which means with my foundation and everything i’ll be 20 before I start properly, my question is does age really matter? And even if it does, is 20 a little early or late to be in med school? What do you think
Jack Cunningham says
Without hesitation i would like to answer you, since you are un-answered yet, OF COURSE NOT. I am 21 at the moment and in Med school. Remember, the earlier you start, the better you can cram all those info in to your head-memory. I dont see why others should be smarter than me. But indeed, there are some older guys(end of 20s or even 30s) who might have a drawback memory-wise, but here comes the big BUT, they might have more experience than you in controlling stress, depression, and anxiety. These three components are what basically describes you life in Med school 75% of the time. But then of course, genetics is a contributing factor also. You get the picture.

I’ve got a food blog (Obsessive Cooking Disorder) where I photograph, eat, bake, and procrastinate in between rotations and studying.
There are healthy and not so healthy recipes – main course, desserts, everything. And some journaling about med school as well 🙂 always on the lookout for fellow medical bloggers (yay! it CAN be done)

Hi Andrea!
I first discovered your YouTube videos in 2013 when I was searching online for med school interview tips (I’m an MS2 at IUSM now!). I was so happy and surprised to find out you attended IUSM and had a love for food and blogging. My site, http://www.nomsgalore.wordpress.com, began as a cooking blog, but I have recently included more about med school life.
Thanks for all your help and advice!

Nice and excellent blog you have written and really done good work. Nice topic that you have mentioned in your blog about the medical school . The Uzhhorod National University is counted among the best universities for dentistry than the Uzhhorod National University is the best destination for you.

Hi Andrea,
I love this blog! I really relate to the need for balance–going for runs and making delicious healthy food even when your days are so crazy. I am also blogging to process all of the experiences that I am having in an trauma unit in Johannesburg but also sorting through some of the amazing global health projects I have encountered to figure out what really makes sense in the US-context. I would love to include my blog on this list:

Hi Dr. Tooley, I’ve been following you and watching your YouTube channel and I can’t thank you enough for being so up front and real about your experience in medicine. I too am interested in medicine but I don’t really have anyone to talk to. I’m the first generation of my family to be born in America and so like you, I don’t have anyone who’s a doctor in my family. I do have a question for you. How do I go about studying for the MCAT? Are there study tools, books, or anything I have to purchase? How did you study for your MCAT?
Andrea Tooley says
Here is my video about studying for the MCAT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pv6oTNnSxo
Good luck!

For the Potterheads out there:
Life at Hogwarts College of Medicine, https://hersheyhogwarts.wordpress.com/
It’s an non-traditional blog in that I focus on the highlights of my medical school journey, so there is no set schedule for posting. Many of the entries consist of “fanfiction” short stories in which Harry, Ron, and Hermione are fumbling around as magicless medical students; their mis/adventures parallel my own experiences as I progress through the years of medical school.
And thank you for the list, Dr. Tooley – I am always on the lookout for new blogs! 🙂
Andrea Tooley says
Thank you for sharing your blog!! Good luck in medical school!
