Two weeks ago, I was studying retina on a Sunday and I took a study break to google “wheaten terrier, minnesota.”
My google search resulted in us finding a lady 2.5 hours away, with 2 little wheaten puppies looking for a home. It was fate.
Kyle and I got in the car, made a pit-stop at PetSmart to buy a collar, leash, and crate, and drove to Eden Valley to meet our new puppy!
We named him Finnegan, after Kyle’s great-grandfather, who was Irish, just like wheaten terriers!
I can’t believe how small he was just 2 weeks ago. He sat on my lap the entire car ride home 🙂 He was 8 weeks old then, and now is a whopping 10 weeks, and almost 12 lbs!
Here he is when we first brought him home. Just a tiny, scared pup!
He quickly got used to things around the house, and started joining me in my morning study sessions 🙂
He helps me get ready in the mornings too.
Finnegan especially loves our laundry piles.
Finnegan has been getting better and better with his leash, and we love playing with him outside.
He gets pretty tired after playing all day and loves to all asleep with his toys or in his crate.
Kyle has been diligently teaching him. Right now, our biggest challenge is, “NO BITE!”
Even though he’s a little trouble-maker, we love him!
There will be lots more Finnegan stories and pictures on the blog, so I hope you don’t mind! We are having way too much fun being puppy parents. I would LOVE any tips/tricks you have regarding puppy training!! He can’t start puppy school until he has his shots (2 weeks from now) so hopefully that will help. Our current challenges are:
- Major puppy biting/chewing <— Biggest problem
- Housetraining (actually going pretty well since we keep him in his crate at night and when we aren’t home)
- Walking on the leash (also going pretty well considering how young he is!)
Do you have a dog? What kind? What were the biggest challenges of puppyhood?
