Wow you guys had great comments on yesterday’s post! Thank you all so much!
Last weekend I was on call, but I had a nice break between noon and 5 pm on Saturday, so I decided to take a risk and dart off to the apple orchards with Kyle.
It was the most spectacular fall day and I couldn’t resist.
We pulled up to Sekapp Orchards and bought a “half peck” sized bag to go pick our own apples.
A little trailer took us out into the orchard and we were greeted with rows and rows of apple trees!
I couldn’t believe how full some of the trees were- they looked like they wouldn’t hold one more apple without toppling over from the weight!
Kyle and I decided to pick sweet 16 and honeycrisp apples since they are our two favorite varieties that we’ve tried at the farmer’s market.
We also snuck a few that were on the ground and snacked on the right there. If they are on the ground they are free for the taking right?
The apples were so tasty that we ate them all (12 apples) last week and went back this past weekend for more!
I highly recommend picking apples if you are in an area with local orchards!
I am enjoying eating them fresh, but if you pick too many, you can always make 2 ingredient crockpot applesauce for a sweet and healthy dessert!
