It’s Monday, it’s 7:30 am, I’m enjoying a cup of coffee, greek yogurt with berries and almond butter, and I’m finally catching up with the blog. I sure love days off!
For the first 2 weeks of the month, I was on the Cardiology Ischemic Service, which mainly takes care of people who have had a heart attack. Now I am on the Structural/Valve Service which means I get to care for patients with cardiac valve problems, congenital abnormalities, and other structural or valvular abnormalities. Although I still don’t really like Cardiology, the Structural Service is WAY more interesting than the Ischemic service. I have some of the craziest cases right now!
I am also starting to like Cards more now because we have a better consultant. Our last consultant (called attending everywhere else except Mayo) just wasn’t interested in teaching. So that was kind of a bummer. We do have an online iTunes University curriculum that we are supposed to work through all month, but it’s really hard to get the motivation to do that when it’s my last 2 weeks of medicine ever.
Luckily my team is amazing. This past weekend the ischemic team and the structural/valve team hung out together and even stopped to eat lunch together! On most days, lunch is eaten during a noon lecture/teaching session, or at the computer while we are frantically putting in orders and writing notes.
It was just lovely to take a break to eat with colleagues 🙂
Do you eat lunch at work? Do you sit at your desk and work while eating? Or do you take a break?
