I have some awesome new skin care products to tell you about today!!! Acure Organics Natural Skin Care. Ever since Acure sent me some of their products to try, I have become obsessed with these products and I will honestly buy them again and continue using them.
I was searching for skin care products that were organic and didn’t have any harsh chemicals or weird ingredients. Enter Acure. They sent me all kinds of things to try and I seriously LOVE them. I also just recently saw a bunch of the products at Target! If you see them, you should totally try one of the creams or cleansers.
Read on and make sure you go all the way to the bottom because there is a…
Besides loving the products, I love the company!!
Acure Organics is a family owned and operated company founded on sustainable principles to provide the highest quality fair trade, natural and certified organic personal care products. Each of the products is free from animal testing, parabens, sulfates, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, preservatives and artificial colors.
From the founder herself:
“I founded Acure Organics as a way to honor my grandmother, who battled breast cancer for over 10 years. I wanted to help raise money for breast cancer research and awareness while also providing healthy products that promote healthier living and a greener planet. We are proud to donate to Bright Pink and to help provide free mammograms to at risk women.”—Kristy Guerra
I love that Acure focuses on sustainable practices and cares not only about what personal products do to us individually, but how they impact the planet.
Some of the ingredients touted in Acure products did give me a slight pause… peony stem cells? I don’t think there is a lot of research on that ingredient.
Here is one of the ingredients that appears in several of the products, described on the website: (my thoughts in italics)
CHLORELLA GROWTH FACTOR (CGF)
Chlorella is a single-cell green algae. We use certified organic open-cell chlorella to ensure the purity of our CGF.
CGF is truly a skin care miracle. Really? Well I need a skin care miracle so I’m all ears!
CGF is rich in RNA and DNA, the nucleic acids that create life. Your body’s creation of RNA and DNA is significantly reduced in our early twenties, leading to aging. “Significantly may be an overstatement. You constantly create new cells- new skin cells, new red blood cells, new mucosal cells lining your GI tract.. you need lots of DNA to code for the RNA to make proteins so if this was significantly reduced we would all be in trouble.
Our CGF contains 10,000 mg per 100g of RNA, the highest source available for your skin. This sentence doesn’t even make sense… are they saying that their product is 10% RNA? Maybe they mean that their CGF contains 10g of RNA? That’s an TON of RNA? I don’t understand how that’s even possible. According to a simple google search, the entire human genome weighs 3.59 x 10-12 grams so I think this statement is a little bizarre.
Healthy cells count on the perfect replication of our RNA and DNA. Yes. That is true. CGF helps boost this process and protect our DNA and RNA during the replication process. CGF is also clinically proven to protect collagen and elastin fibers from the enzymes that destroy them. I don’t know about this one. I did find one article about CGF helping skin cells- but I didn’t spend a ton of time researching so there might be more.
Clinical studies have shown CGF to increase collagen expression by 333% when used at 1% concentration*. Our anti-aging products use our CGF at an amazing 5% concentration. This statement could be misleading. The study apparently shows that CGF helps at 1% concentration. So by using 5% we are assuming that more = better, which isn’t always the case. The 5% might either do nothing, might do harm do skin cells, or might be better- who knows?
Okay but enough of me picking on the advertising. I’m just trying to show that it’s easy to get swept up in all the miraculous claims of these products, but in fact, they might not mean much. But really- who cares?? When I pick out a skincare product I want it to be/do several things:
- Smells good
- Doesn’t cause breakouts
- Makes my skin feel good
- Easy to use
And guess what? Acure is ALL these things!!
I will go through these products and gush about how much I love them- even if the website says some crazy stuff 🙂
The facial cleanser is amazing. It gets super foamy and really lathers which I love. It smells fresh and takes my makeup off REALLY well. Love it.
The next product might be my favorite- the toner. It smells great and is SO refreshing and clean feeling. I love spraying it on my face in the morning to wake up, and after I wash my face at night.
The night cream is thick and creamy, smells great, and doesn’t cause breakouts- everything I want in a night cream. I slather it everywhere.
The eye cream is another favorite- it’s so gentle and makes my sensitive under-eyes feel great. The other eye cream I had been using kind of burned my delicate skin under my eyes and this one does not do that.
The day cream is light and seeps into my skin quickly so that I can put my makeup on right over it without feeling greasy. My only complaint is that it doesn’t have SPF.
The last product I tried was the argan oil which is kind of smelly- I didn’t love it as much as the other ones. But it’s still great for deep moisturizing. I put some on my elbows and it definitely helped my dry skin.
