A few days ago, I realized I have been totally neglecting my workout log page on the blog. I used to be pretty good about logging my workouts, and I must admit it is nice to look back and see what kinds of things I was doing months or even years ago. But since the start of residency I’ve been terrible about updating that page. I do still write down my workouts in my planner, so tecnhnically I could go back and add in all the dates I’ve missed on the log, but that would take way too much time.
Instead, I think I might do a weekly workout recap as part of these Friday Favorite posts. I know several other bloggers who do this and I like to see what they did all week. Plus, I think it will be good to show a realistic schedule of workouts in residency- sometimes I can workout 4 or 5 times a week, but other times it’s only once or twice a week.
If you hate this idea and think I should skip it, let me know!
Otherwise, here are this weeks workouts:
Monday: 35 min run on treadmill + 15 minutes of Kayla Itsines leg workout. I didn’t feel like doing the whole 30 min
Tuesday: 30 min Kayla Itsines legs (did the whole thing this time) + 2.5 miles run on treadmill
Wednesday: Tennis class
Thursday: Tennis class + 30 min Kayla Itsines arms workout + 5 min run on treadmill (I thought I might run longer but ran out of time!)
Friday: **Plan for Kayla Itsines total body workout today + 20 min on treadmill
Sunday: Who knows?
This week has been a nice active week compared to the previous week, which only had 2 workouts :-/

I had to go to Target last week and even though I tried to make it out of there without spending 8 times more than I had planned, I fell victim to the allure of Target and left with a bunch of things I didn’t need.
One of those things was this Vichy sunscreen that was originally $50 but was in the clearance section for $14. I just couldn’t pass up the savings! (I’m laughing at how ridiculous that sounds). But seriously, I am almost out of my daily moisturizer and I don’t really like the scent of the sunscreen I’m using now, so I thought I would give it a try. And guess what? I LOVE it! It is creamy and smooth and feels really moisturizing, but doesn’t have that sunscreen smell. Victory!
I had the coconut Noosa as one of my Friday favorites before, but again while at Target, I decided to try a new flavor. The strawberry rhubarb sounded unique so I added it to the cart. Well it is delicious. That yogurt is just so good! It is expensive, so I am not buying it all the time, but it is a nice treat every now and then!
DIY Spring Wreath
I still had my wintery wreath on the front door and figured that even though we have massive icicles hanging along our walkway, we still needed a spring wreath.
I saw a magnolia one that I really loved, but it was $60 and I definitely didn’t want to spend that. After having a good experience making my own flower arrangements, I figured I could make my own wreath. I bought a grapevine wreath for $5 at Michael’s and 3 tulip bouquets which happened to be 50% off. They were each $4 after the discount.
I just cut the tulips off individually and stuck them into the grapevine wreath until the entire thing was covered. I like how it turned out!
Did anyone else see this woodpecker with a baby weasel on it’s back on Buzzfeed? At first I thought it was so cute and that the bird and the little weasel were friends, but apparently the weasel was trying to kill the bird! Luckily they both made it out alive.
Cake + Mark Bittman
I made my second cake in the past month… I think I should probably stop now. But I really do enjoy making cakes! Ever since I made my wedding cake, I have wanted to make more cakes and learn more decorating skills. I made this chocolate one for Kyle for Valentine’s Day:
And yesterday, I made a vanilla cake with a chocolate ganache filling for Kyle’s 30th birthday. I put 31 candle on that thing- one per year plus one to grow on. We’re lucky it didn’t burn down the house!
Several people asked for the recipes for the cakes and so I thought I would make Mark Bittman one of my favorite things. This book is one of my all time favorite/must have cook books:
The chocolate cake recipe is seriously the best cake ever. I also used his recipe for buttercream frosting and the chocolate ganache.
What are your favorite things this week? What are your weekend plans?
My mom is coming this weekend to visit so I’m planning to see her, play tennis, maybe go ice skating, and relax!
