Helloooooo! Is it freezing cold where you are? Because it’s wicked cold here. I am snapping a screen shot right now so you can all see the temp:
I can normally walk into the hospital from the parking lot in my normal work shoes, but on days like today I wear boots into work to protect my little feet!!
Did you have a good weekend? I had Saturday off and it was my perfect day. I started the day by sleeping in, and then I went grocery shopping- my favorite thing to do. Last week I discovered a juice shop and I had been waiting all week until Saturday so I could try it out!
I ordered a carrot, cucumber, kale, apple, celery, and lime juice. The verdict?
Perfection!!!! Fresh carrot juice is seriously SO good. I love the froth on the top and the subtle sweetness. Mmmmm I could drink it all day. I was shocked that this juice wasn’t nearly as expensive as other places- only $4. I don’t think I should make it a daily habit, but I could go for it weekly! Some people spend that much on coffee all the time!
After hitting 3 different grocery stores to get all the ingredients I needed, I came home, started cooking, and ended up destroying the kitchen.
I think I would be eliminated from any cooking show because I am so messy…
But I don’t care because I ended up with some protein muffins, this banana bread that I took to work yesterday and everyone LOVED, a huge batch of thai steak salad to eat all week, and an entire pot of sausage and chicken gumbo.
Nom nom nom.
Later on Saturday night, Kyle and I bundled up and ventured out into the cold to check out Social Ice, an event in Rochester that features ice sculptures and ice bars all set up outside. I joked on Instagram that only Minnesotans would celebrate negative degree temperatures by making ice sculptures and throwing a party outside.
It was stinking cold!!!!
The ice sculptures were really cool though, and there was great music, tons of people- it really was a cool event.
On Sunday I had to go to work, but I just couldn’t muster the strength to put on a suit. I tried the casual sweater over an oxford look, which I normally love on other people but hate on myself.
For some reason I kind of liked how it looked! Maybe I won’t be so scared to try it again.
Since it was Sunday I felt okay with the more casual attire. I’m back in a suit today, don’t worry 🙂
We don’t have to write notes on the weekends, only the consultants do, so I was home by lunchtime- score! I did some emailing (I am caught up with emails only to February 3, so if you emailed me after that and are waiting for a response, it’s coming soon I promise!!). Then I actually went to the gym. I couldn’t believe it. I seriously haven’t been to the gym in months since I got my treadmill for Christmas.
I did 30 minutes on the elliptical and then a 20 minute leg circuit that looked like this:
- 1 minute walking lunges
- 1 minute squat jumps
- 1 minute squats
- 1 minute burpees
- rest one minute
- repeat that circuit x 1
- 1 minute surrenders
- 1 minute medicine ball squat overhead press
- 1 minute step-ups with weights
- 1 minute reverse lunges with weights
- rest 1 minute
- repeat circuit x 1
Sunday night, Kyle and I went and played tennis. I am getting a tiny bit better now, so we can actually hit the ball between us, but I’m still pretty bad so we only did that for a half hour or so, then we hit with the ball machine for the rest of the hour.
Overall it was a great weekend full of activities, cooking, resting, and fun!
What did you do this weekend?
