I love all your comments on yesterday’s post- you guys have such great thoughts and I really appreciate you sharing them!!
Yesterday was a pretty great day all around. I got up early with the intent to workout, but after jogging for 15 minutes on the treadmill, I just wasn’t feeling it. So, I stopped and did some yoga sun salutations for a while which felt great.
Are you sick of treadmill pictures yet?
Then I got ready, ate breakfast while watching The Bachelor (Kelsey is…. I don’t even know), and headed to work. I stopped in the cafeteria to grab a coffee and was ready to go! We get money loaded onto our cards for the year and since I never buy food in the cafeteria (except for those little chocolates) I never feel bad about buying coffee. It’s free!
I rounded on my patients, wrote my notes, and got ready for team rounds. We only have 4 patients on our service right now (shhhh don’t tell anyone because I am loving the low census!) so rounds took less than an hour.
We have lectures at noon and today’s topic was diarrhea. Yep. We learned all about all the different kinds of diarrhea and how to work it up. As an almost ophthalmologist, I’m sure you can imagine diarrhea isn’t my favorite thing.
BUT- fun fact that I learned. You can calculate the stool osmolar gap by 290 – 2(Na+K). If the gap is greater than 100, you can assume it’s osmolar diarrhea. If it’s less than 50, it’s secretory diarrhea. Aren’t you glad you know that now?
After rounds, lectures, and finishing up notes, we headed down for noon conference which is another lecture held over lunch. I brought more bean soup for lunch and grabbed a snickerdoodle from the provided lunch offerings.
Later in the afternoon I admitted a new patient, worked on my notes, and by 3 pm I got to leave! Not too shabby of a day right?
When I walked out of the hospital it was a winter wonderland!
I think we got close to 5 inches yesterday!
Since my morning working was so short I decided to get on the treadmill again for some sprints. I did 20 minutes of 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off and then stretched a little more.
I saw online that my favorite frozen yogurt store had a new coffee flavored fro-yo (one of my favorites) and so I made the executive decision to have a huge bowl for dinner. I was too excited to take a picture before I ate it all… so just imagine lots of fro-yo with oreos and brownie pieces. That was my nutritious dinner.
And that was basically my day!!
I hope you all have a wonderful day!!
