Before I go any further with my random thoughts today, don’t forget to enter my $150 Athleta giveaway. It’s open until next week and all you have to do is leave a comment!
Last week I was super sick, and so I missed 2 days of work because I had a fever. Ironically, I had 3 days off which started right after I got better! I tried to switch my days off so that someone could work for me while I was sick and then I could work for them when I was originally scheduled to be off, but it didn’t work with anyone’s schedule. So, I had to call in someone from the float team to cover me when I was sick, and then I got a 3 day vacation when I felt well. I feel so bad about that- but I don’t know what else I could have done.
When I was sick I watched about 17 episodes of the Real Housewives, and I kept noticing all the beautiful floral decorations in their homes. Kyle and I don’t really have any flowers in the house, and we can’t afford to always have real ones, so I started looking online for some artificial floral decorations.
Well, did you know they are crazy $$$? I couldn’t believe how expensive they all were! So, being a crafty person myself (I did make my own wedding cake and do my own wedding calligraphy) I went to Michael’s and bought a bunch of flowers to make my own arrangements!
They turned out SO well and I can’t wait to show you them!
I cooked a bunch of food right before I got sick, and then didn’t eat anything for 3 days, and then Kyle got sick and didn’t eat for 2 days, so we’ve been eating random things here and there all week, trying to not let all the food go bad!!
I made fajitas (saute onions and red pepper, cut chicken into strips and toss with one package of taco seasoning, then saute) which I’ve been eating with tortillas and avocado- super yummy!
I also made potato soup for Kyle, because that’s his favorite thing to eat when he’s sick. He got super sick right after I did, so I made his mom’s potato soup recipe 🙂 Some days I’ve had huge bowls of soup, and yesterday I had a little bowl with some fajita chicken on the side. See- random!
Since I got my treadmill for Christmas, I literally have not been to the gym once. I’ve been loving the 4 mile distance right now. I walk for about 5 minutes to warm up, then run for 4 miles. Perfect.
There are tons of videos on the site! The level of difficulty ranges from 1-3 and the time ranges from 10 min- over an hour. I love all the variety! I tried a level 2 video the other day and really enjoyed it!
I tried another video with tons of arm balances. I’m not the strongest, but I felt pretty good in this side crow 🙂
And now I’m back to a pretty normal working schedule. The ED isn’t my absolute favorite, but I don’t hate it either.
Some shifts are so great and I feel really on top of things. I get in the groove and feel like I’m handling all my patients, not missing big things, and keeping it all together. Other nights, I feel like a disaster and totally out of control. I feel like I miss things or forget things… ugh! It’s so hard! Last night was a good night though. Right at shift change I had 6 patients and they were all pretty ill. One patient had a stroke, one was super intoxicated, one was at CT scan for presumed diverticulitis, one had cancer and was super ill but we didn’t know why, one lady had broken her ankle, and one guy was short of breath and didn’t want to go home. I kept it all together and my consultant said I did an excellent job 🙂 Phew!
So that’s life lately! Hope you are having a wonderful week!
