Time for another Friday Favorites post! The first one I did the other week is here if you missed it.
Something that is not my favorite? Being sick. I’m still not feeling 100%, but I am better and I think that today will be the last day of feeling ill. Tomorrow, I will be back in full force! I did take the day off work again which I feel terribly about. I just don’t think I can manage 9 hours running around the ED. I really haven’t eaten much of anything in the last 3 days (a piece of toast here and there and some sips of water) so I need to get some nutrients in today to feel better.
But enough of that. Here are some things that I’ve been loving lately. Tell me what you’ve been loving too!!
This is my 4th month getting a Birchbox and I’m totally loving it. For those of you who haven’t heard of Birchbox, it is a monthly beauty subscription. Every month, you get a box with 5-6 beauty samples. It’s only $10 a month, which I think is totally affordable. I would definitely spend $10 a month at CVS or Walgreens on random beauty items, so I can justify the Birchbox 🙂
You can customize your box, so you get more products that are suited to you. Here was my first box:
I really love getting the samples to try, and finding new products that I might buy in full size! It’s so fun to try out the samples without committing to a full-sized, expensive item.
Kyle and I actually got his mom a subscription for Christmas, so she can have all the fun monthly samples too. There was a promotion at the time and if you bought a gift subscription, you got a free men’s box. So, Kyle should get his men’s box soon! I know he’s excited for some manly beauty care 🙂
I’ll be telling you more about Tosi in another post, but I wanted to mention them here. This is an awesome company, started by MDs! They sell protein powder, meal replacements, snacks, probiotics, and other health products.
I’ve tried about a million different protein powders and nutritional supplements and I’ve never settled on one. Since I have so many busy days at the hospital, it would be fantastic to have a meal replacement I could fall back on should I run out of time and not pack lunch, or get hungry on a call night.
When Tosi reached out to me to try their product I was pumped. I was so excited to try a product made by physicians, with quality ingredients, and a great mission. They sent me a pack of the Tosi Super Bites and a package of the Vanilla meal replacement powder.
So let me just tell you now- the Super Bites are insane. They are SOOO good. They remind me of Kind bars, because they are primarily nuts, but I like them even more because they are crunchier and don’t have that sticky goo that some Kind bars have.
Check out the ingredients:
And the nutrition:
I will write more about the meal replacement shakes later, but I just had to mention the Bites. Have you tried them? Do you have a meal replacement that you’re loyal to?
My husband’s family got me these amazing winter boots for Christmas, but they were too big and so I’ve been waiting for the new size to come in for weeks! Well, my boots finally got here and I am SO excited! I searched online for a pair of winter boots that were somewhat stylish, but could hold-up in the snow, and everyone raved about Sorels, so I thought I would give them a go!
I chose the Sorel Slimboot in the Nutmeg color (the color looks more accurate in this photo compared to above):
Since I’ve been sick all week, I haven’t even gotten to wear them outside yet!! But trust me, they will get PLENTY of winter wear in the next few years 🙂
Did you see on instagram that Kyle and I went cross country skiing?
Well, we did and it was awesome.
And hard. We both fell down.
But we loved it and will definitely be going again!
If I feel better this weekend, we might go down-hill skiing. There is a place about 50 minutes away with a hill (LOL- no mountains in Minnesota!)
Banana + Bread
I don’t know what makes banana and bread so delicious together, but it’s a combination that cannot be beat. When I’m running late, toast with banana and almond butter is my go to. Eaten in the car on the way to work…
And it’s hard to find something that rivals homemade banana bread. My mother-in-laws recipe (I’m pretty sure it was her mom’s recipe) is the best.
I had a slice every day last week. Luckily I ate it all before I got sick and lost my appetite.
So that’s what I’m loving lately! What are your favorite things this week??
