Santa Claus came to the Tooley household early this year!!
Ever since we moved from Indianapolis and Kyle made me sell my old treadmill, I’ve been longing for another treadmill to call my own.
I know I’m not a distance runner or a speed runner, but I still really enjoy jogging and got so much use out of having a treadmill at home. When I had my old treadmill I often did a quick 3 miles before work in the morning, I walked while I studied, and even on nights when I couldn’t muster the energy to go to the gym, I could convince myself to hop on the treadmill for a few miles. It was really great.
I’ve been searching Craigslist for another treadmill ever since we moved here, but could only find ones made in 1980, or gorgeous ones that were $$$$$. So, imagine my surprise when a HUGE Nordic Track box showed up in my living room when I came home the other day. My mom, aka Santa, found a good deal on a treadmill during Black Friday sales, and decided to surprise me with it for Christmas! I couldn’t believe it!!!!
The box was enormous and weighed over 200 lbs, so Kyle and I had no idea how we were going to get it upstairs to my room. At first we thought we could ask the maintenance men from our town-house complex, but we couldn’t get ahold of them and we were both getting pretty antsy- we wanted our new treadmill set up!! So, Kyle somehow got some superhuman strength and pushed the box to the base of the stairs. Then, I lifted the lighter side onto the first stair and subsequently lifted it onto each stair, one at a time, while Kyle pushed it up from the back. You should have seen us. It probably took 15 minutes to get it all the way upstairs, but we did it!!!!
Once we were in my room (we have 2 bedrooms- one has our bed and all of Kyle’s clothes, Kyle’s dresser, etc. and the other room has my desk, my clothes, and now my treadmill!) we had to get it all set up. I think all of our IKEA furniture experience prepared us for the task of assembling this treadmill.
Setting it up actually wasn’t that bad. I think Kyle and I made a pretty great team and we had the treadmill up and running in about an hour!
It has some awesome features that I’m so excited to use. One simple feature that makes me SO happy is the fan- I LOVE treadmills with fans! I am such a sweaty person and the little fan significantly reduces my sweat LOL!
It also has lots of programmed workouts that I’m going to try.
Kyle made sure the belt was adjusted properly and everything was ready to go before I took it for it’s first 4 mile test-run.
Verdict? I love it!
I think this treadmill and I are going to be fast friends 🙂
Thank you so so so much mom for such a thoughtful gift that I will use ALL the time for years and years!!
In other news, yesterday was a pretty normal day. Breakfast was the same oatmeal (I just can’t make it look pretty no matter what).
I packed a random lunch to take to work- veggies and almond butter (carrots and almond butter- so good- try it), a small salad with homemade tahini dressing, some salami with a baby bell cheese, and pineapple. Beverages include a huge black coffee and a La Croix 🙂
After spending the day in Radiology I came home and was hungry for a snack, so I had some pomegranate seeds and a piece of Ezekiel toast.
For dinner, I made Kyle and myself a steak, sautéed mushrooms and onions, and a sweet potato. I was stuffed after that gigantic sweet potato!
After that it was time for bed! I don’t fool around with bedtime anymore- by 8:30 I’m washing my face and brushing my teeth 🙂
Hope you have a great day!!
Do you have any workout equipment at home? Do you use it?
