After I finished Step 3, Kyle and I packed up to go home to Indiana for a few days. I had the first week of December off as vacation which I desperately needed! We didn’t go home for Thanksgiving, and we won’t be home for Christmas, so this was out big holiday visit home. Luckily we still had a great “friendsgiving” in Rochester on actual Thanksgiving.
All the girls:
Time at home consisted of:
A family dinner with my mom, stepdad and grandma. Kyle and I made the turkey using this Tyler Florence recipe.
We put stuffing under the skin, which was a first for me.
The turkey was so beautiful and all our thermometers read that it was to the right temperature, but when we cut into it, it wasn’t done! Womp womb 🙁
It didn’t ruin dinner- we just put it back in the oven and dug into all our yummy sides! I ate leftovers for days!
We also had a big dinner with Kyle’s family. Look at all this food!!
Kyle and I gave our presents to our little niece and nephew- we got our niece an American Girl Doll Bitty Baby book and new outfit- so so so cute! And we got our nephew some big legos. It’s so fun playing with them when we’re home 🙂
Besides our two huge family dinners, we had amazing homemade food every single day. Isn’t that one of the best parts of going home to your parents? Kyle’s mom makes the best coffee cake ever, and I probably had 6 slices 🙂
I also took full advantage of my mom’s treadmill at home and got in a nice run every day. I miss the treadmill I had in Indianapolis SO much! Having a treadmill at home just makes life so much easier because you can jump on for a quick run any time you want! I’m constantly checking craigslist to find a new treadmill for our place in Rochester.
We had the most relaxing and rejuvenating week, and we got to spend tons of time with family, which is always the best. I wish we could have stayed longer! But, now we’re back in Rochester and back to work this week.
Do you have family get togethers with tons of food?
