I know this week 2 recap is a few days late- forgive me!! You can read my week 1 recap here if you haven’t seen it yet 🙂
According to the Whole30 timeline, week 2 is supposed to look like this:
I didn’t struggle too much with the first week, and the second week again wasn’t too bad at all!
Kyle has had huge bowls of ice cream every night and I haven’t even been tempted to steal a bite.
Even on days 10 and 11 which are the days that the vast majority of people tend to quit the whole30, I felt great!
I will say that today and yesterday (day 16 and 17) I’ve felt really snacky and wanted lots of sweets. I’m going to try to make sure my meals are big enough to keep me full without snacking between them, and I’m going to try to cut back on so much fruit and the occasional Larabar (my sweet snack of choice.)
So let’s go over week 2!!
I made some awesome food! I made crab cakes (recipe coming I promise!)
Chili (which I ate 2 bowls a day for 3 days).
I made more of the sauce from these meatballs and topped some grilled chicken and cauliflower rice with it.
And I had lots of normal, easy to throw together meals of eggs or chicken, some veggies, and some fat.
I worked out 6 times last week which was great!! Since I was feeling kind of unenthused about my fitness routine, I was happy to get in 6 workouts. I tried 2 new classes at my gym- a cable strength class and a kick box cardio class and loved them both. I also had a great run outside and a beautiful bike ride with Kyle. Go me!
How Am I Feeling?
Day 8 of the Whole30 was a bad day. I felt SO sick to my stomach. Seriously, it was the worst stomach ache I’ve had in years. I couldn’t move off the couch all evening. Luckily, when I woke up the next day I felt 100% better and I haven’t had any stomach issues since.
I haven’t felt too hungry at all on the Whole30. All my meals keep me really full and satisfied! I am missing some of my staples like greek yogurt and oatmeal, but since I’m making so many yummy alternatives, it’s not bad at all!
I havne’t had too many cravings for anything specific. I’ve been enjoying 1/2 a Larabar in the afternoon as a little snack, and then fruit after dinner with some nuts or coconut butter for dessert.
Technically, I should have anything that I would consider “dessert” but I enjoy my fruit at night so much, and I don’t want this to be the miserable 30, so I’m not too worried about it.
I have been sneaking too many little bites of Larabars here and there (since I only eat half at a time I leave the package open, but then I break off a little piece here and there and all of a sudden I’ve eaten 2 in one day… whoops!!) So I’m going to cut that out.
Otherwise I feel pretty great! No significant changes in energy or mood- just chugging right along!
Do you think you could do the Whole30? What would you miss the most?
