I work today, one more night shift, and one more day shift, and then guess what? I will never work in the ICU again!
It’s so crazy for me to think that I will never be in that environment again- never see those types of patients, never think through those types of illnesses.
While I don’t think I could work in intensive care forever, I do really enjoy my days in the ICU. They go by SO quickly and there is never a dull moment.
Since I know I will never have to be in the ICU again, I haven’t stressed too much about studying during this rotation and learning everything. I’ve been trying to take in as much as possible, but I’ve felt pretty relaxed knowing that if I don’t master ventilator settings, it doesn’t matter 🙂
Even without trying to study, I’ve learned SOOOO much. I can’t believe how much more comfortable I feel doing things compared to how I felt just 4 weeks ago.
Besides medicine, I think I’ve learned a ton about life, family, and health in general. I will post an end-of-icu post with more details about my experience next week.
In the meantime, I’ve got some pictures recapping my last week:
This picture describes me so well. Great intentions with carrots and celery, but I totally go for the hersheys kisses 🙂
Running soooo late one afternoon so I ate my lunch in the car- eggs scrambled with turkey and veggies- always a good choice!!
My resident’s theory on life:
This little guy was on my scrubs the other day.
Made it to the gym late one night, and mother Mayo looked so pretty in the twilight so I took a picture 🙂
Super healthy finger food lunch one day that was SOOOO good!!! I had veggies, hummus, 1/2 turkey burger, guacamole, tahini dressing that I made, and a peach!! It doesn’t get any better than that.
I got a haircut- man did I need it. I’m actually thinking about cutting it a little shorter next time- what do you think?
Happy monday my friends! I hope you have a fantastic start to your week. I’m off to the gym. I am in need of a workout BIG TIME after a birthday celebration we had at work that included brownies, cake, donuts, zucchini bread, and so much more sugar I’m getting a cavity just thinking about it.
