Right now I’m on an airplane flying to Orlando for the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology national convention. I am presenting my research as a poster tomorrow! I went to the same convention last year in Seattle and I must say, I am excited about the Florida sunshine this year.
But, I was so sad to leave because that meant I had to say goodbye to my husband.
That’s right- my husband!!!
Kyle and I got married!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Our wedding on Friday was the happiest day of my life; I loved everything about our special day.
I hate that we have to wait for pictures to come back from the photographer, but I have a few snapshots that I can share now!
I will start with the morning of the wedding.
Friday, May 2, 2014 I woke up at 7am feeling refreshed and without the pit of anxiety in my stomach that had been gnawing at me the entire day before. I no longer felt anxious or overwhelmed. I felt excited and happy- today was the day I got to marry Kyle!
I went for a run first thing because I knew I would feel better all day if I got some exercise in during the morning. I don’t know if it was because I was so excited, or the sun was shining and the temperature was perfect, but I ran fast for 4 miles and it felt great.
Once I got home from my run it was time to get ready. I showered and dried my hair, put on some lotion but no makeup.
We had most things all arranged but we still needed to drop off menus and place cards at the restaurant. Oh- we also had to drop off the cake.
Did I mention I made my own wedding cake?
I can’t wait to blog all about that- it was the most fun experience and I learned so much about baking!!
At 11:30am it was time to go to the hotel room we had reserved to start hair and makeup. My mom and I met Kyle’s mom, grandma, 2 sisters, and baby nephew at the hotel. Whitney was up first to get her hair done.
My mom and Kyle’s mom Susie brought over sandwiches, fruit, cheese, and crackers to snack on all day, which was perfect. No one wanted a heavy meal right before the wedding, but we didn’t want to be starving either!!
After Whitney it was my turn to get my hair done. Jennifer, our hairdresser, had already practiced doing my hair a few weeks ago, so she knew exactly how I wanted it.
I was planning to do my makeup after my hair but before I could put on any makeup, I had to read the card Kyle sent over for me. Kyle and I decided not to talk for the night before and day of the wedding, but we both wrote each other cards to read that morning.
I knew I was going to cry when I read his.
After some happy tears, I got started on my makeup and Lindsay got her hair done.
It really was a wonderful afternoon getting ready with all the girls. I loved every minute of it!
Next up- the wedding!!
