Day 2 in Naples was full of activities, but this time out of the sun. Kyle and I got plenty of sun on day 1, so we decided to skip the pool and the beach for the morning.
After slowly getting up and out of bed, making coffee, and relaxing (I love vacation) we went downstairs to the hotel lobby for breakfast. Kyle opted for another blueberry muffin (he had one the day before as well) and I made due with an orange and some mixed nuts. My grandma Peggy left a little basket for us in our hotel with apples, oranges, nuts, chocolates, and bottled water. I figured a few servings of mixed nuts and a big orange would hold me over until lunch. Plus, I didn’t feel like spending beaucoup bucks on breakfast. (Why are hotel breakfasts so expensive!?!?)
After we ate, we borrowed bicycles from the hotel and rode down the street to the Waterside Shops. It’s an outdoor area with all kinds of fancy pants stores. We went in Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Tory Burch- window shopping only of course 😉 But, I did buy a new pair of pants a Lululemon. I couldn’t resist!
When it was time for lunch, we rode back to the hotel and got in the car to drive to a seafood restaurant nearby. Kyle had looked up good restaurants in Naples and found the USS Nemo, which had great reviews and was only a few miles away!
We split an appetizer of tempura shrimp with yuzu sauce. SOOO good! I don’t think I’ve had yuzu before and it was amazing! It has this light, citrus flavor… yum yum!
Kyle ordered shrimp and scallops for his main dish.
I got a salad with grilled snapper.
The fish was perfect. I ate all of it. The greens were normal, but all in all it was a wonderful meal!
While we were eating, a massive storm came through and it down-poured outside!! We were sitting outside but luckily didn’t get wet, we just got to enjoy the monsoon around us 🙂
As we were leaving, Kyle and I couldn’t help but notice the chocolate shop next door and we had to check it out. Actually, I had to check it out. They had the most beautiful chocolates I’ve ever seen!!!
Aren’t the gorgeous?
Kyle and I decided to get 3 each- all different flavors. I chose coconut, bananas foster, and cookies and cream. Kyle chose hazelnut praline, vanilla almond, and cinnamon bun. I feel like I could stay in that store all day trying the different chocolates. And of course I would need a bowl of gelato on the side, just to balance things out 😉
That huge lunch necessitated a nap, so Kyle and I passed out in the hotel room. When I woke up the rain had passed and I figured it would be safe to go for a run on the beach. The beach was about 1/2 mile away from the hotel, and once I had run about a mile, the clouds started to look pretty ominous.
It wasn’t really raining, but sprinkling here and there, and I didn’t want to risk getting caught in a storm with my phone on me, so I headed back to the hotel gym and finished my workout there.
2 miles outside, 20 minutes on the elliptical, and 15 more minutes on the treadmill.
Then it was time to clean up and go meet my grandma for dinner. We had a little bit of extra time before leaving, so I got a pina colada to sip outside by the pool. I LOVE pina coladas so much, but they have about 848748573 calories, so I don’t order them. We had a free drink coupon from the hotel, so I thought I could get the drink, only have a little bit, and not feel bad about wasting it because it was free. I had a little less than half and threw the rest away- delicious!
Kyle and I had such a great get-away in Naples. We can’t wait to come back 🙂
Have a wonderful Friday friends!! I’m off to pack my suitcase once again because Kyle and I leave for our honeymoon TODAY!!!!
