I’ve read multiple pieces that describe how our culture has come to value being busy.
“I’m so busy” is seen as honorable. Only those who are hard working and successful can boast about their business.
But is being busy all that admirable? Maybe not. I, personally, don’t want to rush through life, always busy, with no time to enjoy what I’m doing. I don’t want to constantly express how busy I am, or use that as an excuse for not doing things that are important to me.
When we’re “busy” we often drop things that we value most: time with friends and family, time spent on ourselves working out, cooking food, meditating, and sleeping.
So, I am ashamed to say that lately, I’ve been super duper busy. Since I haven’t blogged in a week, I will just update you on all the latest happenings!
1. I sold my house! Kyle and I packed our cars full, locked the doors, and left the keys behind.
I was sobbing crying when I pulled out of the driveway for the last time. I have lived in Indianapolis for 8 years and it’s over. I’m sure I will visit Indy again in the future, but there aren’t any big reasons to go back to Indianapolis. It’s the end of an era!!
2. I turned 26! My birthday was Easter weekend and Kyle and I went home to be with our families. It was such a great weekend at home!
3. I finished my poster for the national ophthalmology meeting I’m going to next week. I’ve been working on this research for a while and I’m so excited my poster is finished!!
4. Kyle and I had our wedding party! Our actual wedding ceremony is THIS FRIDAY (deep breaths) but this past weekend was our reception. We wanted to do a casual, outdoor party with friends and family since out actual wedding is only for parents, grandparents, and siblings.
The weather was perfect! We grilled out pork chops, had a local musician come play, and enjoyed a great day with friends!!
We had over 100 people come and I was SO happy to see everyone!!
Tara came with her husband Brian! It was such a perfect day. I can’t wait to get pictures back from the photographer so I can tell you even more about it.
Now, I am at home trying to not be so busy.
I get 4 days to relax, get everything ready for the wedding, unpack (Kyle and I are living with our parents until we move to Minnesota in June), catch up on blogging, emails, and trashy TV 😉
How are YOU!?!
How do you handle being busy??
