I didn’t get into Alabama until late Friday night and I literally fell into my hotel bed and was sound asleep in minutes. Luckily, my interview didn’t start until 11:30 on Saturday, so I had all morning to workout and get ready.
After 45 min on the elliptical watching Scandal (love that show so much) I finished my workout with 10 minutes of sprints on the treadmill.
From a sweaty mess to a professional med student!
The Alabama interview day started with lunch and included a tour of their huge eye center and lots of mingling with the residents and other applicants. I met the nicest girl in Alabama and saw her again in Virginia! I love how nice all the other med students are 🙂
I had already booked a flight leaving Indianapolis and going to Virginia on Sunday before I got the Alabama interview (which was on Saturday). There was no way to cancel my original flight from Indy without paying $200 and no flights from Alabama to Indy that evening, so I was in a real pickle. Kyle came to the rescue and flew down to Alabama and drove me back to indianapolis through the night so I could make my 6am flight on Sunday. Now that is true love.
I was super tired by the time we got back to indianapolis at 2am, but I had to re-pack my bags for Virginia and Minnesota!! So I took a 2 hr nap and then packed and headed back to the airport. Crazy right?
At least I found an egg white and spinach wrap that was delicious and woke me up!!
By 9:30am on Sunday I was in Virginia and the fabulous Clare from Fitting It All In picked me up.
Charlottesville is gorgeous.
Sunday was my idea of a perfect day. Clare and I went to church and then went to a little coffee shop for lunch. We both opted for the bean salad with grilled tofu thanks to Robins suggestion (another blogger and Charlottesville native!).
The salad was oh so tasty but the honey cluster stole the show. This bite of glory had oats, honey, coconut, and some other magic that made it the best little dessert I’ve had in a while!!
Clare and I stayed at the coffee shop and studied through the afternoon. I still have my board exam in December, so it was great to get in some study time. Later that evening we headed to the gym for a workout!
I did 20 minutes on the stairs, 15 minutes of sprints, and then met Clare for 15 minutes of abs. After that, we took our sweaty selves to whole foods for dinner. I never get sick of their salad bar.
I think I was sound asleep by 9pm. Basically, it was the best day ever 🙂
