Happy Thursday friends! I rolled myself out of my warm, comfy bed this morning and drove to spin class in the dark. Luckily, my gorgeous friend Sara was there to meet me, otherwise I totally would have skipped it.
It started pouring rain as soon as I got in my car to drive home after class. Love it when that happens.
Okay, now I need to complain about spinning class just for a second. All you spin instructors or spinning experts, tell me what you think- and put my in my place if I’m wrong.
My gym’s spinning class is really starting to get on my nerves. For one, the lady who teaches it teaches the EXACT SAME CLASS every single time. It’s literally the same routine every day. And I’m getting super bored. Also, she doesn’t do JUMPS!! WTF? Aren’t jumps an essential part of spinning class? She has some problem with them and won’t do them. My quads are mad at her.
Also, she plays the most ridiculously terrible 90’s dance music. I’m talking techno remixes of Cher. It’s AWEFUL. She used to play more recent music, but for the last few months she has only played old school techno jams. And it’s driving me nuts.
Lastly, she flipped out because my friend Sara and I were chatting at the beginning of class. It was during the warm-up and we were just quietly talking to ourselves. Our bikes were next to each other in the back of the room, so it’s not like we were being super disruptive. But she flipped out and turned the music off- give me a break!!!
Maybe I’m being silly and I should just chill. And I do know it’s rude to talk in class… but it was the warm-up for goodness sakes!!
Okay back to yesterday. I got up and studied for a bit with a huge bowl of greek yogurt with blueberries and walnuts.
Then I drove to the Salon for a major haircut!! I cut off all my hair!!!! Really, this is the shortest it’s been since high-school!!!
I took a few selfies in the parking lot before I got home because I was planning to go run and knew it wouldn’t be down again.
Maybe if I shower sometime soon I will curl it and give you a full picture of my new do!
Does anyone else feel this way about spinach?
On Tuesday I ran my first 5 miles in ages since my ICU rotation ended and I finally now have time to go for runs outside! Yesterday, I wanted to run again, but my legs were feeling sore from the 5 miles the day before!! So I ran 4 miles and then walked 3. Halfway through my run, I ran into this handsome guy:
Look who it is!! My betrothed!!
Being out of shape has it’s benefits- my heart beats out of my chest during my entire run so I burn lots of calories 😉
After those 7 miles I was hungry but didn’t feel like cooking. So Kyle and I made the quick decision to run out for tacos. There is a local mexican/asian fusion place called La China Poblana close to our house that we’ve been meaning to try, so tacos it was!
This little place (which kind of looks like a hole in the wall) has already been honored with lots of accolades from Indianapolis magazines and news papers. The head chef blends such unique flavors and uses local, fresh ingredients.
I ordered the sweet potato fries with queso fresco and mole sauce first. I’ve never actually tried mole but I’ve seen so many people make it on the Food Network, so I had to see what the fuss was all about.
Next, I ordered a taco with crispy salt and pepper shrimp.
Both these dishes were to die for. I loved the flavors and left stuffed!! Kyle got 2 tacos- both with pork but one with chorizo and potatoes and the other was a carnita with fresh herbs. He loved it too.
It was such a lovely day off, I forgot it wasn’t the weekend!!! I could get used to days like that!
Have you tried mole?
What do you think makes a good spinning class? Am I being too demanding?
