On Saturday I left Indianapolis and drove to southern Indiana to meet my mom because we had big plans to drive to Atlanta on Sunday. I took Step 2 of my medical boards in Atlanta on Monday. On Tuesday we drove back to Indiana. On Wednesday I slept… and grocery shopped.
And now I’m back!!!
So let’s recap Saturday shall we? I wanted to get in a good workout before I came home to my parents in Southern Indiana, so I actually went to the gym. My new pants and workout top from Gap definitely helped my workout. Do you ever feel like you workout better when you have a new outfit? There are few good places to get a full body shot in my gym- but the shirt is a pretty blue and the pants are maroon.
Sometimes if I’m feeling lost for motivation, I will get a new outfit and boom! I’ll be back in the gym in no time. I started with 20 minutes on the stairs, but I was watching Scandal and didn’t want to stop the show, so I added an extra 10 minutes onto my stair workout.
And then I did 20 more minutes on the elliptical because I just couldn’t stop watching Scandal!! After all that cardio I was too tired to work out my legs which was my original intention. I tried to do a few leg exercises on the machines, but just wasn’t having it. So I stretched and went home.
On the way down to Southern Indiana, I decided to stop at the outlet mall to see if I could get a new suit. I have so many interviews for residency coming up, I think I need more than one suit!! I loved this one from Banana Republic:
But the top was just a tiny bit too tight. I needed the next size up and they didn’t have it!! Boo!!! I settled on a nice charcoal skirt suit.
And that was pretty much the end of my Saturday! On Sunday, I didn’t have much time that morning before we started our drive to Atlanta, but I still wanted to sweat a little bit before sitting for 7 hours! So I hopped on the treadmill for 20 minutes of interval training. I walked for 5 minutes, did 10 minutes of sprints, and walked another 5 minutes.
Not great, but hey- it was something!!
My mom and I packed up the car, and then we were off to Atlanta!
On the drive down, we packed some snacks, but kept our eye out for a Panera for lunch. Of all the fast food options out there, Panera has some healthy choices and is definitely my go-to restaurant on the road. My mom and I split a tuna sandwich, had salads on the side, and got black bean soups to eat in the hotel for dinner.
Our hotel in Atlanta had a mini-fridge which was SO convenient. It made it easy to pack our own food, and store left overs.
This is what happens when you go on a trip with my mom:
You get a fridge PACKED with fruit. Do you think she get’s enough fruit each day?
It was a great start to the trip to Georgia. Stay tuned for more about the exam!
Where do you eat when traveling? Do you pack your own food?
