When you work 12 hour days and you only get one day off a week, you really need to make the best of your day off. Today is Wednesday, and today is my first day off in a week of working 6am-6pm in the ICU.
My ICU rotation is AWESOME! I feel like I’m learning so much every day. Since I’m a sub-i, or sub-intern, I have more responsibilities than a normal 4th year. I oversee my patients even more than I have before, and I try to put in almost all the orders for them- it’s really great to spread my wings a little but still have a residency watching over me in case I mess things up (which happens a lot) 😉
And I get to spend a lot of time studying:
Don’t make fun of my math… it was really early in the morning. And I like to show my work 😉
Anyway, I knew this ICU rotation would be intense, so I prepped hard-core the weekend before everything started. I cooked a ton of things to freeze, prepped lunches for the week, etc. I’m going to write all about that prep in an upcoming post- How To Make Your Busiest Month Your Healthiest Month. Coming soon!!!
Now that I finally have a day off, I have it jam packed with the following:
- Working out
What do you do on your day off?
Today is a day we will always remember. Hold your loved ones close. Be grateful 🙂 9/11/01- Never forget.
