Oh my lord I just woke up from a nap that lasted… four hours!! Whoops! I guess my body needed it, but man I didn’t intend to sleep that long! So now I will just jam pack my evening with my workout plans, study plans, and cuddling with Kyle plans 🙂
Yesterday was a beautiful day here in Indy. I had to be downtown at 7am to present at the ophthalmology Grand Rounds. I completely forgot to take a picture, but we brought 48 donuts for the residents and guess who didn’t have any? That’s right- ME! It’s the small victories right?
Breakfast was the normal oatmeal with egg whites and a peach. I think what I love most about this breakfast is the fact that it keeps me full for so long. I’ve heard lots of people say they struggle finding a breakfast that keeps them full- well this one delivers.
For a mid morning snack, I mixed up a scoop of vanilla protein powder, one tbs PB2 (peanut flour), and a splash of almond milk. I stuck it in the freezer for a while and to my delight, it made a gooey fudge-like batter. Topped with blueberries and walnuts- amazing snack!
Yesterday was stinkin cold in Indy! I couldn’t believe I had to wear long sleeves and a scarf to feel comfortable! I made a huge effort to carry around my 1/2 gallon jug of water and drink it- it worked! I swear I could go all day without drinking anything, so I really have to remind myself to chug water. And I know that there have been studies that show you actually don’t need 8 cups a day and we get plenty of water from food and normal drinking, but I can feel a difference when I drink more water. I feel full and am less likely to overeat. I feel energized, I pee a lot so I get up and move around more- I like how I feel when I’m chugging a gallon a day so I will keep doing it 🙂
My scarf was definitely necessary while I sat outside studying. It was breezy and chilly, but the sun on my back felt oh so good.
Another wrap with those low-carb tortillas. For only 60 calories, it’s like, “why not add a wrap to this meal?” This time with egg whites, feta, spinach, tomato, and broccoli slaw.
A few years ago, Kyle did P90X for about 3 weeks and hated it. He has been telling me lately that the plyometrics video is the worst, so I thought I would give it a go yesterday.
I am here to inform you that P90X plyometrics is not that hard. Really. It’s a lot of jump squats and HIIT drills that last 30 seconds. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a terrific workout. I was drenched with sweat by the end. But Cathe Tabatas are 9348984329 times harder- I DIE doing those. I also think Insanity is harder.
One thing I’m loving in my workouts is my new shoes!! These Brooks are SO comfortable and cushiony. I really LOVE them. Highly recommend.
Oh- and the neon makes me feel super cool and tough 😉
Dinner looked a lot like lunch but chicken instead of egg whites. Love it!
Kyle and I hung out and watched Harry Potter and did a short bible study together. I’m not one to plug religious stuff, but if you are Christian and looking for some good devotionals, YouVersion is the bomb.com.
I even did some stretching while watching the movie!
I think I should make a rule that if I’m watching TV I have to be doing something physical as well- wouldn’t that be a good rule?
And that’s the day! Hope you all had a great one!
How do you feel about water drinking? Do you have a water goal each day? Do you do things that science may day doesn’t work? I STRONGLY believe that each person is very unique and although scientific data may say something is ineffective, if you THINK it’s working for you, you should do it. (As long as it’s not harmful). The placebo effect is strong and sometimes just thinking you’re doing the right thing for your body is enough to influence other health factors that really do have an effect…
