I swear it seems like it was 2 days ago when I was writing my last “well it’s Monday! I’m sad the weekend is over” post. Time just FLYS!
My weekend was pretty great if I do say so myself. On Saturday, the ophthalmology student interest group had a vision screening in a small town not too far away. I’m president of the group, so of course I was going! Community vision screenings are always so fun, and I think it’s great to make eye-health more prominent in the community.
This was a back to school health fair for kids. To my delight, there was a healthy snack area with all kinds of fruits and veggies! I couldn’t believe it!
Sunday was another great day that started with Turbofire 55. I think I can safely say that Turbofire is my favorite cardio workout. Chalene is SO fun and the time passes quickly. There are 30 min, 45 min, and 55 minute workouts and all are super challenging. Gotta love it!
And you can’t dislike the calorie burn either! (Please disregard my hairy arm…)
To refuel after my sweaty Turbo session, I blended 1/2 banana, 1 scoop vanilla protein power, spinach, almond milk, and a big spoonful of blueberry jam. I added a few ice-cubes and it turned out extra thick and creamy!
Then I did some grocery shopping, laundry- the usual Sunday activities.
For lunch, I cooked up 2 egg whites topped with a little parmesan cheese. The eggs + avocado + greens and tomatoes = Best sandwich ever. The bread was a flat out wrap 🙂
It was so beautiful outside yesterday, and Kyle and I wanted to enjoy it, so we went golfing! Kyle is just getting into golf- I bought him his own clubs for his birthday. I, on the other hand, have never golfed and have zero athletic ability. I figured Kyle could coach me and show me how to swing. If I failed miserably, I could always run around the golf course and cheer on Kyle 🙂
Shockingly, I wasn’t all that bad! It was a short par 3 course, and I was able to do almost all the holes in 4 or 5
or 8 swings.
Kyle was a rockstar. Look at that ball going straight for the hole!!
And it goes in!
After our golfing outing (so fun- I definitely want to go again!!) we cleaned up because we had tickets to a show!
Kyle randomly saw a poster for a play called, “Shakespeare wrote what?” as part of the Indy Fringe Festival- a 10 day festival of art and theatre in Indianapolis. Knowing I am a MAJOR Shakespeare fan (I took 3 Shakespeare classes in college, visited his home, his grave, and I’ve seen over 10 of his plays performed!!) Kyle bought tickets for the show!
It was a parody of 5 lesser known Shakespeare plays: Titus, King John, Cymbeline, Troilus and Cressida, and Pericles. The entire show was hilarious and done well- we both loved it!
And so ended the weekend!
Since it’s the beginning of a new week, I thought I would try to do the weekly goal thing again. Last week I wrote out all my goals for the week and crossed them out as I did them!
There were 26 total goals and I hit 21 of them… that’s only 80% and I would FLIP out/ have a melt down if I got an 80% on anything in school, so I’m determined to do better this week! Here’s the new week (I’m giving myself one day to eat unclean, but I should still get in workouts and water!!)
