What a blogging slacker I’ve been!! I completely neglected my beloved ADITH this week in order to finish my public health elective. Yesterday I turned in my 25 page (not double spaced) paper, made my little presentation, and now I am officially finished with my August elective! On to the next one!
I really enjoyed my public health month. I will especially miss getting to spend a few days downtown. I love downtown Indy and I’m never there enough!
Enjoying a nice iced coffee downtown. I cannot express my immense love for iced coffee. When I was super little, my mom would always have a big tumbler full of iced coffee in the car, and she would let me have the ice cubs at times. They were usually semi-melted and saturated with coffee, so I would get just the tiniest taste of coffee. Maybe that’s why I love it so much.
Anyway, let’s recap last weekend because it was awesome!
On Friday, Kyle’s parents and sister came up to Indianapolis and we all went to dinner at Barcelona Tapas.
Kyle’s dad really enjoyed the meal (and I was afraid he wouldn’t!!!)
Here’s a glimpse at the meal:
Baked marinara with goat cheese.
Curried chicken salad
Kebob with chicken and sausage
Chickpeas and spinach in a broth with a spanish cheese on top- forgot the name. Anyone know?
Spanish rice with seafood.
And last but not least:
Hot, homemade churros with a chocolate dipping sauce. I’m not kidding I ate that entire plate. I think Kyle had one.
Kyle’s beautiful sister Whitney!
My man and me!
Kyle had to roll my churro filled belly home 😉
Saturday, we headed down to Southern Indiana to celebrate my step-dad’s birthday. It’s been a tradition for Kyle and me to cook him dinner each year, so that’s what we did!
Kyle caught me licking the chocolate off the wax paper covering the cake! Whoops!
The menu for the night included:
Pan-seared sea scallops on a bed of radicchio and pancetta. Recipe found here.
Red snapper and grilled summer vegetables!
I pile my plate high! The whole meal was delicious.
After dinner we did presents and cake. Here’s my mom and Joe.
You better believe I had a huge piece of flour-less chocolate cake with ice cream. Oh yes.
Sunday, Kyle and I went to church with his mom and then stopped over at his sister’s to see this little girl:
This is Kyle’s niece Sophia and she’s basically my favorite person ever. And she told me she likes me better than Kyle 😉
Finally we made our way back to Indianapolis and I even had time to squeeze in a workout! This picture is from Friday: Whenever you’re running short on time, you can always squeeze in a speedy 20 minutes of fast running or sprints. While watching Friends of course!
So that was my exciting weekend! The week has been pretty boring in comparison. Lots of staying in my pjs all day working on my public health project. I actually got dressed one day:
In other news: I got my first Interview invitation for residency!!! I have an interview at the University of Rochester NY in October. Anyone live in Rochester and want to let me sleep on their couch?
Phew!! Sorry for the overload!
I don’t have any good questions, but leave me your blog urls so I make sure to catch up with what’s been going on!!!
