Hope you all had a wonderful July 4th!
I started the day at my parents house in southern Indiana but my day ended in Indianapolis. One of my favorite things about being home (besides spending time with my mom and step-dad) is the food!!! My mom has a few things at home that I don’t buy too often in Indianapolis and it’s always a treat when I’m visiting and can eat it all! My favorite is definitely cereal. I am a cereal addict. I can’t explain, I just love it. I used to buy it a lot in Indianapolis but one day, while studying, I ate an entire box. So now I try to only buy cereal
when I’m having a weak moment at the grocery store when I’m really craving it.
But that doesn’t mean I can’t have cereal when I’m at home with my mom! And you know I do! I loaded up my bowl with blueberries, banana, and cereal for breakfast. And then I had another bowl. I think that has to be one of my favorite breakfasts.
After breakfast, Kyle and I hit the road back to Indianapolis. We have a very special wedding today and some errands to run in Indy, so we wanted to get back. Neither of us thought about packing any snacks so by the time we arrived in Indy it was 2:30 and we were STARVING for lunch. We didn’t want to ruin dinner so we made a light snack to hold us over. I had hummus and veggies, Kyle picked up some sushi.
The errands we needed to run involved looking for furniture and buying a toilet! As for the toilet, I have a guy coming to install a new one tomorrow because the one in my bathroom is old and gross and possibly leaking… but it’s cheaper if you buy your own toilet first instead of buying it off the plumber’s truck.
Off to home depot! I picked out a very reasonable toilet. How exciting!! (and weird… sorry I’m blogging about toilets!)
As for the other errand- Kyle and I are on the lookout for new bedroom furniture.
I don’t think I’m made this announcement officially on the blog yet…
Kyle is moving to Indianapolis!!!
If you’re a new reader, Kyle is my fiancé, and we’ve lived 3.5 hours away from each other our entire 6 years of dating. It’s not crazy far, but it’s always been a ‘long-distance relationship’. We also did 1 semester apart when I studied abroad and 5 weeks apart when I was in Africa. Having him around every day will be a HUGE change and I am dying with excitement! I can’t believe he will be living here permanently starting this month!!
So anyways, Kyle needs a dresser for our room in Indianapolis. I don’t have any bedroom furniture so we thought it might be better to buy an entire bedroom set instead of just a dresser. But we can’t find any in our price range that we like. If you know of any good furniture stores, let me know!
Once home, we rode our bikes up to the Redbox to rent a movie. We ended up with Silver Linings Playbook and we both really enjoyed the movie. It is so sweet and I loved the characters. It’s great too because the main character Pat complains about how all the books he reads have depressing endings and life is hard enough and we should have happy endings- so naturally the movie ends with a happy ending. I just love happy endings!
Don’t mind Kyle’s girly bike. One of my best friends Sarah has been keeping her bike at my house since I have a garage, and so Kyle rides it every once and a while. Thanks Sarah!
Dinner last night was a Fourth of July treat! My dad had a gift-certificate for Omaha Streaks and generously bought some steaks to have sent up to me! I eat red meat on such a rare occasion, that when I do have a nice steak, it really hits the spot. Kyle was in charge of grilling our fillets and I was in charge of the salad, watermelon, and corn.
We ‘mmmmmed’ our way through this great summer meal. The corn was sweet and crunchy, the steak was salty and smokey, and the fresh salad and watermelon made the meal light and satisfying! Summer foods are just the best- I think I could eat dinners like this all the time and be 100% content.
Grill master Kyle!
Do you have any foods that you love, but can’t buy. Cereal is my number one love but I can’t keep it around the house!
Do you have any suggestions for finding inexpensive but decently attractive furniture?
Have a great day!
