Yesterday I made a really stupid mistake. I will tell you about it at the end of the post thereby forcing you to read all my random musings from yesterday… or at least look at the pictures- muhahaha!
Yesterday morning was a busy, busy morning. I had a ton of emails and things like that to catch up on since I decided to be lazy and do nothing all weekend. I also wanted to make sure I had everything together for my first day of 4th year. And I wanted to workout.
So I did a quick HIIT workout on my treadmill. Nothing special, but better than nothing at all 🙂
I was starving when I woke up and so I decided to cut my oatmeal in half. I had 1/4 cup oats early early morning and the other 1/4 cup right before I went to clinic at 8am.
That really is only 1/4 cup oats. I microwave them with water to soften the oats and then add liquid egg whites. I microwave again to cook the egg whites and the volume of the oatmeal bowl triples! I always stir in frozen blueberries to cool it down and flavor it with blueberry deliciousness. Although, a frozen banana is a mighty fine addition as well.
And then I was off to clinic. White coat and all.
Lunch was packed at home as usual. Yesterday’s meal included a kale and brussels sprouts mix from costco (seriously amazing- go try it), some pea shoots from the farmers market, dried cranberries and pumpkin seeds, and chicken on top.
The apple on the side was mushy and gross… bummer.
Clinic yesterday was great because it’s a pediatric ophthalmology clinic at Riley Children’s Hospital. Being that Riley is a huge pediatric hospital, we get to see a variety of patients from all over the state.
I met patients with congenital disorders, tumors, retinopathy of prematurity, prosthetic eyes, trauma patients, all kinds of things I wasn’t expecting to see!
Unfortunately, all I did yesterday was shadow the resident and fellow so it was every so slightly boring. Shadowing is great because you can learn a ton, but after a few hours it gets pretty rough.
Clinic went until 6pm last night and stupid me had packed nothing else to eat.
Therein lies my mistake.
My measly salad from lunch held me over for about 3 hours so by 6pm I was ravenous- never a good thing.
I had full intentions of working out again last night so I wanted a quick and easy digesting meal to get me through a workout. But I was SO hungry.
I didn’t take pictures of the 4 other dinners I had last night, but I promise you, I wayyy overate.
I was so hungry I just wanted to eat everything! After my feast of a dinner, I was too full and exhausted to even think about working out.
So I just went to bed. Whoops!
I will make up for it today I promise 🙂
Do you overeat if you let yourself get too hungry?
How much food do you pack to get you through the day?
