It’s pouring down rain here and I can only gaze out the window and wish the summer sun would come out so I could go to the pool.
I only have 3 days left before 4th year starts so I have to live up every minute of it right?
Things I know I will do today: eat lots, workout, shower, watch The Office (I started at the very beginning and I can’t stop watching until Jim and Pam get together!!! When will it happen!?!?), and hang out with Kyle when he gets here tonight! Yippee!!!
Okay but enough about today- let’s talk about yesterday! I have a big question about cheating on your workout.
My every day oatmeal, egg whites, and blueberries- with a sprinkle of cinnamon- happened again yesterday morning. Shocker! I didn’t take a picture- this is an old photo. But I promise, they look like this every single day.
Then I had to put on actual clothes (which is a rare occurrence for me- I live in workout clothes!!). I just bought these mint green shorts and I really like them! What do you think about colored shorts?
After running a few errands I was starving but I didn’t have a ton of time, so I quickly assembled my last flat out fold-it with some turkey, lettuce, and a laughing cow cheese.
By 3pm I was hungry again so I made lunch #2- 3 egg whites, 1 whole egg, broccoli slaw, and a piece of Ezekiel bread with cheese.
I don’t buy real cheese very often, but I had cheddar left over from Kyle and my bison burgers. The addition of some real cheddar cheese to my meals has been awesome this week. Yum yum.
There are some unhealthy things I just cannot cut out of my diet- for example, frozen yogurt, cookies, twizzlers, those new chobani flip yogurts, anything else with sugar. But I have found other items that I can easily eliminate from my diet without really missing them- cheese is one of those items. Skim milk was SO easy to say goodbye to in exchange for almond milk. Bread and pasta have pretty much disappeared; they’ve been replaced by Ezekiel bread, tortillas, and the occasional flat-out bread.
Over the past few years I’ve gradually cleaned up my diet by swapping certain foods or cutting things out. Years ago, yoplait yogurt was a staple in my diet. Every morning I had yogurt and fruit with some cereal on top. Now, I never eat regular yogurt- only greek yogurt!
It’s strange how our diets evolve over time. I do believe that by slowly making changes you can become healthier without really missing any food groups. Drastic changes aren’t all that necessary!
I knew I should have worked out in the morning… but I didn’t. At 5pm I was sitting on the couch, having an internal dialogue about whether or not I should go to the gym. I was SO tired and NOT in the mood. So….
I took a pre-workout supplement.
And you know what? It was awesome.
I felt so energized and had a great workout.
I have 2 sample packs of this from my last purchase at GNC:
Now I’m contemplating buying it!
What do you think? Are pre-workout supplements cheating? Are they really that bad for you? I think what I responded to most in this drink was the caffeine… so maybe I should just make some coffee before a workout?
I want to hear your opinion!
Here is the workout I did:
- 25 minutes stair-stepper
- Leg extensions 3×10 (jump rope 30 seconds in between sets)
- Leg curls 3×10 (jump rope 30 seconds in between sets)
- Walking lunges with barbell 3×10
- Hip adduction 3×10 (jump rope 30 seconds in between sets)
- Hip abduction 3×10 (jump rope 30 seconds in between sets)
- Squats with barbell 3×10
- 30 minutes treadmill (10 min HIIT sprints, 20 minutes walking on incline)
I died. I was worn out after this workout. But I slept like a baby and today I feel great!
Have you made changes in your diet that now seem normal for you? But years ago would have been crazy?
