This is only my fifth day back in the gym since I took 3 months off to focus on my surgery block, but I am SO STINKIN SORE!!!
It hurts to move. Washing my hair is torture. Ouch! Maybe a good hour of hot yoga will help stretch my muscles.
Yesterday morning, I woke up early and hungry. It seemed too early to make real breakfast so I made a piece of Ezekiel bread with PB2 and 1/2 banana.
That morning snack must have energized me because with less than 1 cup of coffee in my system I was aching to go workout (literally… haha). So at 6am, I rolled up to my gym ready to go. I hit the stairs for 20 minutes again. This has been my warm-up of choice. The stairs get my heart rate up SO QUICKLY. Even if you’re in shape- those stairs are killer!
My surgery attending had his office on the 8th floor and insisted on taking the stairs every time. I love that sentiment because as a busy surgeon he has little time to workout (I think he runs on the weekends). But 5-6 times a day he sprints up 8 flights of stairs. Not too shabby! Anyways, I would always be SO WINDED by the time we got to the top. It never got easier!
After my 20 min. stair session, I hit the weights for a back workout. I HATE working my back. It hurts. I know I need to strengthen it more, but I just don’t like it! I followed a Jamie Eason workout once again:
I had intended to do the elliptical after weights, but by this time my stomach was growling and I was starving. So I left the gym and told myself I could come back if I wanted to.
I kept up with my Under Armour What’s Beautiful goal to sweat every day!
I’m out of liquid egg whites which I normally use to make my oatmeal. Real egg whites creep me out in oatmeal because I worry they won’t get cooked all the way through- at least the liquid ones are pasteurized. Without my egg white protein source, I’ve had to make due using protein powder in my oats. Oatmeal + Peanut butter cookie dough protein + strawberries = pretty delicious!
I like to flood my oats with almond milk, so the picture isn’t all that appetizing.
After a few hours out and about running errands, I came home to this package:
Talk about motivation! Thank you Under Armour! I am so excited to wear my new gear 🙂
Lunch was split into two parts with a nap in between. Part 1:
Part 2 was a flat out wrap with turkey and laughing cow cheese.
Even though I napped I was still super tired all day. Don’t know why. But in spite of my fatigue I made it to the gym again to finish out my cardio on the elliptical:
While wearing my sweet new shoes of course!!!
Does new workout gear motivate you?
Are you a napper? I do love a nice nap but only if I’m exhausted. I usually can’t fall asleep unless I’m sleep deprived.
