I really hope that this will be my last at-home workout for a while. This was the morning of my exam on Friday:
After months of a crazy schedule, I can finally get back into my gym. But before I tell you about my awesome workout last night, let’s recap the weekend shall we?
Last Saturday (after having recovered from my exam on Friday) I packed up my stuff and headed home to see my mom and Kyle.
I was clearly very excited to get out of town and have a relaxing weekend at home. Now that school is over, I have 2 weeks to get 2984928349829384 things done before 4th year starts on June 1st.
Check out my awesome to-do list. Ophthalmology (my intended specialty) matches 3 months earlier than every other specialty except urology (ophtho and urology are the only 2 weird ones that match early… no idea why). Because of this earliness, I have to have my application basically done by August. That means letters of recommendation, my personal statement, CV, activities, blah blah blah. So I’m going to work on those kinds of things in these next few weeks.
Remember how I got Kyle golf-clubs for his birthday?
Well, he has become golfing-obsessed and plays multiple times a week. He played in a scramble on Sunday with some of his friends and loved it. I call that a successful gift!!
After he took this one he wanted to take another acting more like me:
While he was playing golf all day, I took 2 naps. Sleeping is very important.
Then I picked Kyle up and we went to dinner. He was craving Mexican and I am never one to turn down… well… any food really 😉
It would be remiss of me not to mention the difficulty of staying healthy during my 3 months of surgery, surgical sub-specialty (ophthalmology) and OBGYN. I’d say about half of my meals were perfectly balanced and super duper healthy:
The other half included take out indian food, frozen yogurt, 3 protein bars in one day, candy, pizza, you name it. While I’m proud of myself for never giving up and always putting in effort to make the healthy choice, these last 3 months have taken a toll for sure. Now that summer is here, my body is aching for long workouts, fresh produce, smoothies, salads, walks and runs outside- all of the above!
Taking advantage of my renewed ferventness (totally a word) I headed to the gym yesterday and knocked out a killer workout.
I started with 20 minutes on the stairs:
Then did this arms workout from the magnificent (and super pregnant!!) Jamie Eason:
And finished with 30 minutes on the elliptical.
I was spent!
How was your weekend!?
Do you find that certain things make it harder to eat right and exercise?
How do you deal? (I usually just eat more candy which I’ve learned is slightly counter-productive 😉 )
