Happy 4th of July!!!! Let Freedom Ring!! I will be studying today and celebrating the 4th on Saturday, so I will do a proper red, white, and blue post then.
Yesterday, I spent the morning in the endoscopy clinic and got to see an upper endoscopy (looking at the esophagus and stomach) and 2 colonoscopies. I switched hospitals for the afternoon and found a nice little spot outside to have lunch- tuna, veggies, and a tortilla again.
I went to the cardiac cath lab for the afternoon and ended up only having to stay for a few hours. Since I got out so early, I headed straight to my front yard to soak up the sun. While studying… kinda…
Gym time! Walked 2 miles at 4.0 on a 6.0 incline (30 min) and then ran 2 miles at 6.0 for a total of 4 miles in 50 minutes. All with my lovely medicine book open. Who doesn’t like to read about heart failure when they are sweating away on the treadmill?
Today was leg day and I’ve said this before- I hate leg day. I don’t know why, but I just hate working out my legs. I don’t feel like they ever get stronger and squats hurt my back.
For all the bloggers out there- how do you take a picture of yourself at the gym without everyone thinking you are a total weirdo?? I tried so hard in the locker room, but people kept walking by me as I smiled into the mirror with my phone and I just couldn’t do it.
And now the best part of this blog:
The gorgeous Tori over at Tori Teaches Fitness nominated me for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award!! Tori and I have a lot of similarities except for the fact that she could kick my butt in anything fitness related. Tori is a 25 year old certified fitness instructor and she has a Masters of Public Health. She is actually going to start medical school soon too! I’m so glad she got this award because she certainly is an inspiration.
In a couple days, I will have my one month anniversary of blogging and to be recognized for anything at all seriously blows me away. I started this blog as a fun venture for myself and to see where the world of writing about health would take me. I would love writing through my career as a physician and I hope the blog helps with that.
So yippee!! My mom isn’t the only one reading this silly blog (I love you mom!)! Thank you thank you Tori!! And thank you to anyone else reading this!!
This award requires a few things:
- Display the award logo somewhere on the blog.
- Link back to the blog of the person who nominated you.
- State 7 things about yourself.
- Nominate 15 other bloggers for the award and provide links to their blogs.
- Notify those bloggers that they have been nominated and of the award’s requirements.
Here are 7 things about me: I was born in Sarasota, Florida and moved to Indiana when I was 15. My dad still lives in Florida. I attempted to play softball and volleyball in high school and I was REALLY bad. But I was okay at cheerleading haha! I went to Butler University and majored in English Literature (which is weird for a pre-med student). I got my pilot’s license in high school but stopped flying in college- if I tried to fly a plane right now I would kill everyone involved. I own a house in Indianapolis and rent it out to my two gorgeous roommates- I’m going to be so sad when Kristen leaves me soon but luckily Hollon is staying another year 🙂
And lastly… I’m obsessed with blogs! I think they are even better than reality TV.
Blogs I love and find inspirational: (Keep in mind I’m fairly new to the blog scene and a lot of these blogs are HUGE blogs- some of the girls make their day job just running the blog. I’m finding more and more smaller blogs that I love and I hope to grow alongside.)
1. The Hungry Runner Girl– this was the VERY FIRST blog I ever read. I think I’ve read every single post.
2. Peanut Butter Fingers– Julie is so funny and inspirational.
3. Treble in the Kitchen– My friend Tara started blogging a year ago. Her blog inspired me to start my own
4. The Londoner– I want this girl’s life
5. Oh She Glows– Amazing Recipe’s
6. Fitting it all In– Clare is so real and always posts great things.
7. Bess Be Fit– Fun and motivational
8. Skinny Runner– This girl is HILARIOUS!!
10. Fit for a year– Just started reading this one and love it!
**There are tons of other blogs I’ve just started reading, or ones I don’t read every day, so if I didn’t mention you I’m sorry!!!
I’m off to have a great day studying in the sun and basking in my inspirational award! Yippee!! Happy 4th everyone- have a great day!!
