I can’t believe I’ve only had 2 days of third year and I’m already this busy. It’s crazy!!! Here’s a peek at my day yesterday:
4:45am- alarm goes off, snooze until 5
5- head out for a quick 2 mile jog
5:30- shower, coffee, get ready
6- make/pack lunch for today: the menu included watermelon for a snack, my chickpea/tofu stir fry from Sunday, and a protein pancake as an afternoon snack. (I’m obsessed with protein pancakes. If you’ve never made them before, all you do is add one scoop of protein powder to liquid egg whites until you form a batter. Throw in some berries or banana and make a pancake! It turns out huge and is delicious I promise- the perfect quick meal or snack).
6:30- leave! Drink smoothie in car- it’s got coconut/almond milk, a scoop of chocolate protein powder, some frozen banana, and a huge handful of kale all blended up into a mixture of tropical bliss… if you haven’t tried the Almond Breeze coconut yet it’s a must. So good!
7- Appointment to get fingerprinted at the hospital
8- class until noon
12- run around like a crazy person until I find the person I need to issue my pager! I feel so official now that I have a pager ;-). Eat lunch and watch some videos to prepare for class at 1.
5- get in car and scarf down protein pancake on my way home. Get home, change and head to the gym
5:45-7- 30 min elliptical and 30 minutes leg workout, with a few ab exercises thrown in at the end
7:30- meet my 4th year mentor downtown at a coffee shop. I got a green tea (I needed a little pick me up!!) and we chatted about third year.
9- Drive home, make myself a salad with tomatoes, corn, tempeh, and the last of my fresh mozzarella.
10- LIGHTS OUT!! I AM TIRED!!!!!
Whew!! What a busy day!! The only good thing I can say about being busy, is that it’s amazing how much more efficient you get. When I have very little going on in my life, I seem to get lazy and sluggish with everything- but as soon as my schedule picks up, my energy does too! The go-go-go attitude of being busy makes me much more efficient and I think it makes my workouts better too! I only have however much time I’ve allotted myself to workout- so I better make it good!!
Do you feel that way too? Are you more productive when your schedule is full or when it’s relaxed?
